Jeffrey Chan is an assistant professor in the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences cluster (HASS) at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). He researches on design ethics in the context of the urban built environment. His research has been published in journals such as Planning Theory, Space and Culture, Design Studies, and Landscape and Urban Planning.

In 2019, he published his monograph, Urban Ethics in the Anthropocene. Published by Palgrave, this book elucidates how six different urban conditions--precarity, propinquity, conflict, serendipity, fear and the urban commons--can come to shape new ethical issues and problems in the city.
